Big Oil companies are pumping millions of dollars into research projects at universities seeking alternative energy sources
The flood of dollars is setting research agendas that suit the corporate interest and undermine traditional academic research. Too often, the deals give control of any discoveries to the companies, enabling them to lock up markets for future fuels. Companies also use their association with big name universities to greenwash their images.
