With U.S. automakers headed to Washington for a do-over of their disastrously inept begging trip, OilWatchdog reader Ray Bock of Arroyo Grande, Calif., offers a suggestion that’s been in the air: Let Big Oil bail out the Big Three:

How about letting the big oil companies bail out GM, Ford, and Chrysler?

Didn’t Exxon earn about $40 billion last year and will likely top that figure this year? It seems the Big 3 auto companies–with their gas-guzzling SUVs–contributed mightily to Big Oil’s exorbitant profits. Shouldn’t the car companies get a payoff?

(The little oil companies probably made a few bucks, too. They should be able to pass the hat and come up with a measly $25 billion.)

Why don’t the oil companies get patriotic and compassionate and all chip in? Make it tax deductible.

Us taxpayers have already been plundered at the pump!
